Mikel Arteta's Arsenal are in action for the final time before the World Cup commences later this month.

A trip to Wolverhampton is on the cards as the Gunners look to continue their flying start to the season and be the star at top the Premier League table over the festive period. 

The Spaniard remained modest when asked by the media about the importance of his side being top at Christmas stating, "We are going to have to earn the right to do that and that’s where we are."

Arsenal go into the game dropping just four points all season, a formidable start that can't be argued as the Gunners have overcome hurdles that had been recurring falls in recent years. 

As always in the Premier League, the Gunners have little room to slip with Manchester City right on their tails just two points behind and fueled by Arsenal's rise to become true competitors. The spaniard was reluctant to comment on whether the season was turning into a two horse race between his current and former side. "I’m not here to give opinions on that. I want to finish as high as possible and play as well as possible." 

Arsenal have certainly exceeded expectations so far this season, and last weeks win at Stamford Bridge assured fans that we are where we're supposed to be, despite it feeling like a dream at times.

Wolves hasn't always been a safe place for Arsenal to go, and Arteta stressed the importance of consistency ahead of the match up. "The consistency level that we’ve shown is much better. Whether we can sustain that level or not is dictated game by game."

The Gunners will, as always, have to be at their best to beat Wolves, something that Arteta stressed to the media ahead of the match-up: "We know Saturday night at the stadium will be busy and it will be a tough game. The midweek game they played and the game before that they lost not really meriting to lose the game."

It's a final showout before footballing heads turn to Qatar for the dissimilar arrangements of the World Cup, the Gunners know what's at stake with just an inspired Wolves side in their way of remaining top at the break.
