Aston Villa 0-2 Arsenal
Leandro Trossard and Thomas Partey grabbed second half goals to make it two wins in succession for Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta's side showed character to emerge victorious after an absorbing clash at Villa Park on Saturday evening.
The Gunners claimed revenge for their two damaging defeats to Unai Emery's side last season that arguably cost the team the title after ending the campaign two points behind billionaire moneybags Manchester City.
In a tight match that saw England striker fluff a couple of chances for the home side, Trossard scored moments after coming off the bench after replacing Gabi Martinelli on 67 minutes.
Ten minutes later mdfielder Partey added Arsenal's second to put the seal on a vital victory, even at this stage of the season.
