Arsenal Women head coach Jonas Eidevall has responded to Manchester City manager Gareth Taylor’s claims that Eidevall “bullied” fourth official Melissa Burgin in the Gunners’ 2-1 win over Manchester City on Sunday.
In his post match interview with BBC Sport, Taylor claimed "That is always the same with him because he is constantly at the fourth official and I think it is bullying. I am protecting the fourth official but that's not my job."
Eidevall responded in Wednesday’s press conference: "I was really disappointed with the comments. There is no truth in them. The wording that Gareth [Taylor] used afterwards is borderline slander.
"Either he is not very good with the truth or he is not very good with the language. Either way, I don't think it's acceptable.
"I've not spoken to Gareth. I don't think his comments are acceptable and I would expect him to reach out with an apology, but I'm not sure if that's going to happen.”
The Arsenal Women boss was neither booked nor spoken to by the referee in Arsenal’s important win over City, in which Stina Blackstenius scored a late winner after Steph Catley put Arsenal ahead with a fine finish.
Eidevall added: “I have no intention of going into any legal process or anything. I have no intention about this getting more of my energy than needed but I really do think it is unacceptable to say things about a fellow colleague that is not true.
“I think everyone who is at the game and can see my behaviour can also see that is not a single percentage of truth in that and I think that is quite sad to be honest. That’s why I think it is unacceptable.”
