Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka has spoken to the club’s media on the title race and the recent result against Liverpool.
The Hale End star admitted the squad’s disappointment following the dramatic 2-2 draw at Anfield on Sunday, a game in which the Gunners went 0-2 up in during the first half.
“The boys were really disappointed after the game because we all wanted to win,
We can’t change that so we have to switch the focus to Sunday against West Ham. It’s really important - we all know that - so we’ll try and be ready for the game to give our best and get the three points.”
It was a chance for Arsenal to put a statement out to the league in their charge for the title, and despite a valiant effort, the points were shared on Merseyside.
Arsenal currently sit six points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table, with City firing and still a trip to the Etihad looming, Saka expressed the desire to win against our title rivals.
“I wouldn’t say [the game] is the final, but maybe the semi-final because it’s massive, and so important as both teams are fighting at the top. It’s really close so it’ll be a massive game.”
Saka reinforced the squad’s desire to deliver Arsenal their first league title since 2004 with just eight games remaining of the season and everything to play for.
“As players, we really want to do this. We know that everything is in our hands and we just have to keep going game by game. If we win these last eight games and get some good results, the title can be ours, so we just have to stay focused. It’s a long season and we have to be consistent all the way through, so that’s what we’ll try to do.”
