Arsenal lost 2-1 to Lens in the Champions League at the passionate Stade Bollaert in Northern France on Tuesday evening.

The Gunners took the lead through Gabriel Jesus after 14 minutes, but Adrien Thomasson levelled on 25 minutes.

Worse was to follow for the Gunners after Bukayo Saka was substituted ten minutes before the inteval after picking up an injury. Prior to the talented Elye Wahi finishing with aplomb on 69 minutes to seal victory for Lens in front of their passionate fans.

Find out who impressed with our Player Ratings:

David Raya (GK) – 3/10 – For someone so heralded regarding distribution, the Brentford loanee's poor pass led to Lens’ leveller. Conceded two goals, gifted possesion too readily and did not make a save. Please remind us again just why Aaron Ramsdale has been so readily discarded?

Takehiro Tomiayasu (RB) – 4/10 – Covered at left-back in the closing stages but was not dominant enough defensively against an agressive Lens forward line, while not offering much going forward

William Saliba (CB) – 7/10 – Dealt with the lively Wahi for the most part and reliable with posession

Gabriel (CB) – 5.5/10 – A disappointing match for the Brazil defender who was not solid enough in the backline

Oleksandr Zinchenko (LB) – 5/10 – A good start by faded disturbingly as the match wore on

Declan Rice (DM) – 7/10 – A difficult evening for such a world class talent

Kai Havertz (CM) – 5/10 – Insipid

Martin Odegaard (CM) – 5.5/10 – Not as influential as the Gunners captain would have liked to have been

Bukayo Saka (RW) – 7/10 – Grabbed another assist before forced off ten minutes before half time with a worrying hamstring injury

Gabriel Jesus (ST) – 7/10 – Outstanding finish but not much else went right during his match-long duel with Lens defender Kevin Danso, who tamed the Brazil forward

Leandro Trossard (LW) – 5/10 – Disappointing

Substitutes

Fabio Vieira – 5.5/10

Ben White – 5.5/10

Reiss Nelson – 5/10

Emile Smith Rowe – 6.5/10

Eddie Nketiah – 4/10
