Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith-Rowe was in action last weekend as England U21’s beat France U21 4-0.

The youngster opened the scoring for his country with a goal that cemented his return after a long spell on the side-lines nursing a groin injury.

Smith-Rowe has made a few appearances for Arsenal since his return and spoke to the media after England’s victory on his desire to get back into the side.

“I want to be a part of it. I’m getting minutes playing for England - it’s all really good and the aim is to get my name back on that team sheet for Arsenal as quickly as I can."

The Hale End graduate was also quick to comment on the success of the side this season, saying he could sense the signs of change from early on this campaign.

“I felt it from pre-season, you could see the look on everyone’s face as to how ready everyone was.

With the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus coming in, it just felt like the whole dynamic changed. They’ve been there, they know what it’s like to win.”

The addition of the former Manchester City duo has injected so much into this Arsenal squad, and to City’s surprise, it’s not worked in their favour.

Smith-Rowe explained the importance of the two signings and his shock of City’s decision to sell the pair.

"I’d definitely say a lot of it was down to them coming in because their mentality has been indescribable. I can’t believe Manchester City let them go. Zinchenko is one of the best technical players I’ve ever seen.”

Arsenal currently sit eight points clear at the top of the table with ten games to go, there’s certainly a part for our number 10 to play this season.
