The Premier League has been the talk of our season so far, however this week we look towards the Europa League as the Gunners take on Sporting Lisbon tomorrow evening.

Mikel Arteta’s side will travel to Lisbon for the first leg, with the return being played under the lights in North London the following week.

With the excitement of the weekends result still running through the mind of everyone, more joy could be unleashed in Lisbon, not just by a positive result, but by the rumoured return of Gabriel Jesus.

It’s not expected that the Brazilian will play a significant part in the match, however it has been rumoured that the number nine will travel with the squad to Lisbon.

The striker was seen warming down with the team at the Emirates after last weekends thriller, as his return comes closer by the day.

The Brazilian was injured during the World Cup which left him needing surgery and an extensive stay away from the action for a number of weeks.

The re-emergence of Jesus will be like a new signing for Arsenal.

If you watched any of the striker’s involvement with Arsenal before his injury, you’ll know exactly what he brings to the side.

An infectious energy and desire to be on the ball and be direct in attack to get the ball in the net one way or another, exactly what Arsenal need with the end of the season nearing and being in such a favoured position.

He’s also a winner, not just for the silverware he won whilst at Manchester City, but his hunger to succeed and simply have a joyous time every time he steps on the pitch.

His return couldn’t come at a better time, and with the Europa League returning, it’s a fantastic chance for the striker to ease his way back into football as the squad rotates.

All will be made clearer when Mikel Arteta names the squad that will travel to Lisbon, but we can smile knowing that every day is a step closer to having the magnificent striker back amongst the squad.
