Arsenal attacker Gio Queiroz has departed the club with one year remaining on her contract, joining Liga F side Atletico Madrid.
Gio spent the second half of 2023/24 on loan at Madrid CFF, having not been registered at all by parent club Arsenal last season.
The Brazilian signed from Barcelona in September 2022, and would make 11 appearances for the Gunners after an initial loan spell with Everton.
21-year-old Gio opened up on her time at Arsenal in March this year, telling Spanish outlet Relevo that “Arsenal messed with me a lot” as the club failed to secure her a loan move at the start of last season.
The permanent move back to Spain will come as little surprise for both Gio and Arsenal, with the player remaining in Madrid. Atletico finished third in Liga F last season.
Confirming Gio's departure, Arsenal stated: “Everyone at Arsenal Football Club would like to thank Gio for her contribution to the club and we wish her well for her next chapter.”
