Arsenal defender Emily Fox has become an Olympic Gold medalist after the USA beat Brazil 1-0 in Paris.

Fox started in every game of the US’ run to the final, and kept her place on the right side of defence against Brazil.

Mallory Swanson’s 57th minute strike was enough for Fox’s side to claim Gold against an injury-hit Brazil side.

On Friday, Arsenal’s Laia Codina and Mariona Caldentey were denied Bronze medals after Spain were beaten 1-0 by Germany.

Four other Arsenal players participated in this summer’s Olympics, with Australia failing to progress from the group stage and Canada knocked out in the quarter-finals.
