Another week dawns and the end of the Premier League season edges closer and closer, with just nine games remaining.

Arsenal are in a position that few of us would’ve even dreamed of at the start of the campaign, but here we are, eight points ahead and nine fixtures separating us from potentially being champions.

The win against Leeds was impressive, but essential, as all games are when you have Manchester City chasing you for the crown.

Next up, the Gunners head to Anfield where Mikel Arteta’s side must get a result to keep the gap between City and Arsenal.

Liverpool haven’t been close to their best this season but went to town on Manchester United at Anfield and showed us just why we can never rule them out.

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka echoed this statement when speaking to the media after the weekend’s victory:

“It does not matter how their season is going - they are always a dangerous team and, at Anfield, a very difficult team to play”.

Arsenal haven’t won at Anfield in the league since 2012, something that Arteta’s side need to rewrite this year if they are to push for Premier League glory come May.

While Liverpool are formidable at Anfield, Arsenal are a different animal this year, as shown by the win at Tottenham and the win at Stamford Bridge, breaking curses that had dated back to former years.

Xhaka went on to explain the team’s desire to get three points and break the Anfield curse:

“We have confidence enough to win there. This is what we will try to do. That’s why we are going there so let’s see if we can bring the three points back.”

A win at Anfield would send out a statement to the league as critics fire the questions over Arsenal beating City to the title.

It’s all to play for as Liverpool host Arsenal on Sunday at 16.30.
