Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is more determined than ever to 'nail this transfer window' after the Gunners finished second to Manchester City last season.
Arteta is fighting to win the battle to sign long-time transfer target Declan Rice.
The West Ham midfielder has long been coveted by the North Londoners and is understood to be keen to sign for the Emirates outfit.
However, Arsenal have not matched West Ham's £100m valuation since the Irons and Rice lifted the Europa Conference League trophy in Prague earlier this month.
This has led to renewed interested from Pep Guardiola's treble winning moneybags. Yet, Rice has been beguiled by Arteta's project in N5 with the passionate Basque boss convincing the 24-year-old that his future lies with the Gunners.
Arteta has promised Rice he would be vital to Arsenal’s rebuild, promising to empower the England star to be the driving force to take his young side to the Premier League title.
"We have to nail everything we do," Arteta said. "And seek excellence in everything we touch."
"We explain who we are, how we do things, what we want from them, how we think they will fit in our culture, then try to do the right thing as a club," Arteta said in a recent rallying cry.
"Buy the right profile for the right amount of money that is going to fit what we are going to do, and, in the end, players and staff are going to make our car faster and more reliable to have a great season."
