Manchester City and England midfielder Jack Grealish has been full of praise for former teammate Gabriel Jesus.
The Englishman revealed his admiration for the Brazilian striker, calling him ‘frightening’ in his style of play from their days training at City together.
Jesus had a magnificent start to his Arsenal career, and has contributed to eleven goals this season, netting five himself and registering six assists for the Gunners so far.
Although the 25-year-old has hit a period of stalemate in the goal front, his contribution to the team week in and out is undoubtedly influential to Arsenal’s energy and progression this season.
When speaking to Athletic Club Momento, Grealish branded Jesus as ‘the main man’ and had endless praise for the forward.
“I know he’s getting more recognition now, but he’s the main man. In training honestly, he was frightening.”
The Brazilian has injected a sense of fearlessness and desire to the Arsenal attack, always looking to progress into the final third, breaking the period of previous squads’ struggle to break through the lines consistently.
Grealish noted some of Jesus’ opposing characteristics as a player and a person:
“His play is this mix of proper rawness and skill. He’s a lovely guy but he’s so hungry and aggressive when he plays.”
The forward displays key traits of Brazilian players both past and present, a true desire to win and a tireless aura to his game that is contagious to those around him.
Grealish added that he had spoken to Arsenal man Bukayo Saka about Jesus, praising the star in training calling him ‘unbelievable’.
There is no doubt that Jesus will be back amongst the goals when he returns to North London after the World Cup, regardless of his goalscoring form the Brazilian is an extremely valued member of the Arsenal side that sit top of the league.
