After Arsenal Women beat Brighton 3-0 in front of a sold out Broadfield Stadium, Jonas Eidevall was asked about his side’s supporters, who had helped to contribute to a record crowd.

The attendance of 4,921 was the largest for a WSL game at the home of Crawley Town, where Brighton’s Women’s side play their football.

At all four of Arsenal Women’s away games this season, attendance records for the home side have been broken. This run will continue when Arsenal travel to Southampton in the Conti Cup on Thursday night.

Eidevall said: “I think it’s huge for us because the support is tremendous and it helps us so much, but I also think what we are trying to build, and what we as a club can capitalise on that. I think it’s unique, it’s special.

“We see not only with the away travelling fans, we see how many tickets we sell at the Emirates game- maybe we can have a sellout in the WSL against Chelsea in December for it.” Over 45,000 tickets have already been sold.

Eidevall continued: “That momentum for the club and that investment that so many of our fans have in the team, that’s so important. Maybe that’s the most important thing that we have right now with Arsenal Women, that if we look to the future and see what is going to make Arsenal the best club, if we can have that fan support, if we can grow it even more then we should be able to lead the way.”

Brighton manager Melissa Phillips also praised Arsenal’s supporters, saying: "What Arsenal have created in terms of away fan numbers and chants is leading the way in women’s football in this country and it’s really exciting for everyone.”
