It does not get any easier in the slightest for Arsenal, who travel to Newcastle in the Premier League on Saturday evening (6th vs 2nd). Eddie Howe's side lead Manchester United 2-0 in the League Cup as things stand.
Correction: Ben White of course scored the own goal. Rice exits London Stadium empty handed against his former club after receiving a very mixed reception from the home fans.
Full time: West Ham 3-1 Arsenal. Mikel Arteta's side exit the Carabao Cup with a whimper in East London after goals from Rice (OG), Kudus and Bowen, before Odegaard handed Arsenal a consolation in the final moments.
Goal! West Ham 3-1 Arsenal. Martin Odegaard picks up possession in the box, jinks away from Aguerd and finds the far corner. 3-1
90+5' It's very central on the edge of the 'D'. Odegaard's shot is straight into the resolute West Ham wall. 3-0
90+4' Vieira is fouled on the edge of the penalty area by Aguerd. Last chance for the Gunners to net a consolation goal. 3-0
90+1' Five minutes of added time before Arsenal are knocked out of the League Cup. 3-0
90' Rice feeds Odegaard but the ball gets away from him and West Ham keep the ball. 3-0
88' Kudus is replaced by defender Thilo Kehrer. 3-0
87' Martinelli sees his corner headed away before Odegaard switches the ball to the Brazilian winger. Odegaard then has time to test Fabianski with a low effort that was bending and swirling, but the goalkeeper is up to the task. 3-0
85' Would advise Arsenal fans to perhaps switch across to Manchester United versus Newcastle at full time- ten Hag's side trail 2-0 against the Magpies, at least. 3-0
83' Rice gets into a good position on the edge of the box but can only loft the ball into the hands of Fabianski, who is enjoying a very quiet night against his former team. 3-0
82' Kudus' shot is blocked behind off Gabriel. Benrahma comes off for James Ward-Prowse, not a bad player for David Moyes to have up his sleeve. 3-0
80' Captain Martin Odegaard comes on for Eddie Nketiah. 3-0
79' Saka goals for goal from range and his powerful hit is blocked by the first man. 3-0
77' Yet another badly overhit pass over the top, this time by Bukayo Saka. 3-0
74' The ball is laid off to Bowen and he may have just gone for goal there- it's hard to tell if he was aiming to cross or shoot but he had Ramsdale jumping across goal to watch the ball sail behind. 3-0
73' Martinelli brings down Coufal, who was waiting and waiting for a chance to go to ground and win a free kick there. His wish is granted. 3-0
70' Twenty minutes remaining at the London Stadium, with Arsenal needing to score three goals without reply to take this game to penalties. Otherwise it will be West Ham who progress to the quarter-finals. 3-0
68' Arsenal throw after the ball bounces off the corner flag. Given away all so cheaply by White but Vieira can pick up possession. He then over-hits his long ball behind for a goal kick. 3-0
66' Here come Martinelli and Saka, on for Trossard and Nelson. 3-0
65' Havertz wins a corner which Nelson takes and Fabianski punches away. Bowen is back on and concedes another corner. 3-0
64' The physios are on to treat goalscorer Bowen after he was caught in the eye accidentally by Havertz. Martinelli and Saka will come on for Arsenal. 3-0
60' Goal! West Ham 3-0 Arsenal. Jarrod Bowen with a powerful finish that takes a nick off of Kiwior and bursts through the hand of Ramsdale into the net.
57' Declan Rice receives a standing ovation but also plenty of boos from the home fans as he comes on for Jorginho. Takehiro Tomiyasu also replaces Zinchenko. 2-0
56' Newcastle take the lead at Old Trafford through Miguel Almiron. Back at the London Stadium, Jorginho fails to pick out Trossard in a good position with another poor pass. 2-0
52' Havertz flashes a shot across goal when he perhaps could have set up a teammate. 2-0
50' Goal! West Ham 2-0 Arsenal. Kudus puts West Ham in firm control of the game with a calm finish into the bottom corner. Incredible first touch to take the ball down and away from Zinchenko in one movement, then curling the ball through Gabriel's legs. 2-0
49' Trossard is caught by the arm of former Ajax winger Kudus and Arsenal have a deep free kick. It's worked wide and cleared off the arm of Vieira, with the referee blowing for handball. 1-0
46' Just 23 seconds into the second half, West Ham are so close to doubling their lead! Crucial save from Ramsdale to deny Bowen, making himself big to block his effort before White then clears off the line. 1-0
46' Eddie Nketiah kicks off the second half. 1-0
The players are back out for the second half, with no changes for either side.
Goals elsewhere in the Fourth Round- Liverpool lead 1-0 at Bournemouth, whilst Chelsea, Everton and Fulham all have the same scoreline going in their favour against Blackburn, Burnley and Ipswich respectively. It's goalless in the late kick-off between Manchester United and Newcastle.
West Ham have had zero shots, and Arsenal have had eight. It's West Ham who lead 1-0...
Plenty to ponder for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta. Ben White's own goal and the apparent foul on Aaron Ramsdale has given West Ham a perhaps underserved lead, but the Irons fans will argue that Arsenal have not offered nearly enough to cause them problems. Nketiah, Nelson and Havertz have had half-chances but that has been it for the Gunners.
Half time: West Ham United 1-0 Arsenal. Ben White's own goal separates the two sides at the break.
45+1' Paqueta is caught by the studs of Havertz, who has not enjoyed his finest first half. 1-0
45+1' Two minutes of additional time at the end of the first half. 1-0
43' White takes his time over the throw-in and then Arsenal give the ball away. 1-0
38' Nketiah is in a great position in the box but lifts the ball over the bar after Zinchenko dinked the ball into him. Slightly awkward one but he should have done better. 1-0
36' Silky feet from Nelson before he eventually sees his shot blocked. 1-0
35' Replays of the White own goal indicate a clear shirt pull on goalkeeper Ramsdale by Soucek. Rasmus Hojlund gave away a penalty for less in the Manchester Derby only a few days ago... 1-0
31' The corner is an accurate one towards the middle of the box and Havertz heads wide. 1-0
31' Nelson intercepts a stray pass and gets his shot away from inside the 'D'. It's deflected out for a corner. 1-0
27' Another quality corner delivery from Bowen that is flicked on up high by Alvarez and eventually punched away by Ramsdale, who did well up against two players. He was knocked down by Aguerd and the referee comes to Ramsdale's assistance. 1-0
25' Declan Rice comes out to warm up and receives a very warm reception from the West Ham fans. 1-0
25' Big chance for Arsenal! Nketiah times his run well to the near post but heads wide from the corner. 1-0
24' Alvarez brings down Vieira and the referee blows for a foul. White gets his head to it at the right end this time and Fabianski palms a looping ball up and over. 1-0
20' Havertz can't get on the end of Zinchenko's pass into the box, drawing loud cheers from the home supporters. 1-0
18' Nelson's shot is blocked after he was played through by Jorginho. 1-0
18' Arsenal nearly respond straight away as Jorginho chips the ball into Havertz in the box, but Fabianski is able to claim from his heavy touch. 1-0
17' White was running back towards his own goal and almost headed it past Ramsdale like an opposition striker would have done. A real present for West Ham. 1-0
Goal! West Ham 1-0 Arsenal. It's a Ben White own goal. 1-0
16' Corner for West Ham- Gabriel diverts Alvarez's long ball over the top behind. 0-0
14' Kudus puts the pressure on Gabriel high up and wins a throw in after Ramsdale was nearly dispossessed. Important clearance by White from the long throw. 0-0
13' West Ham have settled into the game and are moving the ball around, watched closely by the Arsenal press. 0-0
8' The free kick is swung in viciously by Nelson and Havertz flicked it on with his head. It's a good save by Fabianski to tip the ball over. 0-0
8' Good work from Havertz to win a free kick on the left. He worked hard to win the ball back off Alvarez, who then brought down the German. 0-0
6' Nelson gets into the box and cuts the ball back towards Nketiah and Trossard. The former trips Mavropanos and West Ham win a free kick in their six yard box. 0-0
5' Good opportunity for West Ham but Lucas Paqueta has completely wasted it. A driving run through the middle but he completely overhits his through ball past Jarrod Bowen, behind for a goal kick. 0-0
3' Zinchenko walks into midfield to play the ball forward- it becomes a back three momentarily for the well-drilled Arsenal. Trossard's cross is cleared. 0-0
2' "Champions of Europe, we know what we are," sing the West Ham fans. Mavropanos' long ball is over-hit behind. 0-0
1' Underway! Lucas Paqueta gets the ball rolling. 0-0
All set and ready to go at the London Stadium. It's West Ham United versus Arsenal, for a place in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
"I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" blasts out, as do the aforementioned bubbles on the pitch.
The teams are in the tunnel! Fabianski leads out West Ham in their maroon and blue strips, with Jorginho wearing the armband for Arsenal in their yellow and black away strip.
Five minutes to go until kick off at a sold out London Stadium.
Elsewhere tonight, current holders Manchester United play Newcastle in the later kick-off. Liverpool travel to Bournemouth, Chelsea host Blackburn, Everton take on Burnley and high-flying Ipswich host Fulham.
We've got plenty of comment and analysis on Arsenal's goalkeeping conundrum on the Gooner Fanzine website with various writers weighing in on the debate,
"What a waste" says former Australia goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer on BBC Radio, when discussing how Aaron Ramsdale is now playing second fiddle to David Raya.
Home side West Ham come into the game after damaging defeats against Aston Villa and Everton either side of losing in the Europa League against Olympiacos. The Carabao Cup might not be on the forefront of David Moyes' mind, but the Irons are in need of a result.
Eddie Nketiah keeps his place upfront for Arsenal, after sealing his first Premier League hat-trick with his first Arsenal goal from outside of the penalty area on Saturday!
Declan Rice is named on the bench for Arsenal as he returns to his former club for the first time. Emile Smith-Rowe misses out with a knee injury, after he enjoyed a rare start in the 5-0 win over Sheffield United.
A total of 11 changes across both sides from their Premier League games on the weekend. Aaron Ramsdale returns between the sticks for Arsenal, whilst his opposite number (and former Gunner) Lukasz Fabianski comes in for Alphonse Araeola.
Arsenal: Ramsdale; Zinchenko, Gabriel, Kiwior, White; Havertz, Jorginho, Vieira; Trossard, Nketiah, Nelson.
West Ham: Fabianski; Emerson, Aguerd, Mavropanos, Coufal; Alvarez, Soucek; Paqueta, Benrahma, Kudus; Bowen.
