Met Police: Robust plan in place for Arsenal vs Bayern Munich

Met Police say remain vigilant when at Arsenal vs Bayern Munich at the Emirates

The Met police will have a 'robust policing plan' in place for the Champions League match between Arsenal and Bayern Munich in London on Tuesday evening, a police statement said.

The Metropolitan Police have released a statement on their policing plan for Arsenal vs Bayern Munich following terrorist threats that have been issued around the Champions League quarter-finals.

The move comes after Islamic State threatened terrorist attacks on tonight's Champions League games including Arsenal vs Bayern Munich at the Emirates - with Spanish police also on 'high alert'.

The Al Azaim Foundation, a media channel responsible for spreading messages from the terror group, threatened an attack on all four venues hosting this week's quarter-finals.

That includes the Emirates Stadium in London, and the Santiago Bernabeu - where Man City fans will watch their side take on Real Madrid.

However, The Met insist they will have a robust policing plan in place for tonight’s Arsenal vs Bayern Munich match at the Emirates Stadium.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan, overseeing the policing of London today, said:“The UK terrorism threat level remains at ‘substantial’ meaning an attack is likely, and we work closely with colleagues from across Counter Terrorism Policing in planning for events here in London, to take into account any relevant information that could help us to keep those attending safe.

"We're aware of online and media reports in relation to calls to target matches across Europe and here in London.

"However, I want to reassure the public that we have a robust policing plan in place for tonight's match and we continue to work closely alongside the club’s security team to ensure that the match passes peacefully.“

"As ever, we ask the public to remain vigilant, and if they see anything that doesn’t look or feel right, then report it to police or security staff.”

A post shared by the terror group saying 'kill all' also named the Parc des Princes in Paris and the Metropolitano in Madrid - which are both hosting matches on Wednesday.

Authorities in Madrid have activated all of their 'alert' and 'response systems' following the supposed terrorist threat, according to reports in Spain.
