Outstanding Arsenal have exceptional week on the road after routing West Ham and Burnley

SInce their midwinter break in Dubai Arsenal shown outstanding form over the last five matches, in their bid to lift the Premier League for the first first time in two decades.

Mikel Arteta's side have been imperious form, racking up 21 goals in five league games during January and February - including 5-0 wins over Crystal Palace and Burnley as well as beating Nottingham Forest 2-1.

The two most impressive results in the run have been a 3-1 home win against title rivals Liverpool and a 6-0 away thrashing of West Ham.

The inform North Londoners ran riot at Turf Moor this weekend, with Bukayo Saka scoring twice as the Gunners keep up with Premier League leaders Liverpool with thrashing

Martin Odegaard gave the Gunners an early lead before Saka scored either side of half-time as Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz got in on the act.

Here's Gavin Garthwaite as he reflects on an excellent week starting with the 6-0 rout at West Ham.

Losing twice to West Ham already this season, this had all the hallmarks to be a potential banana skin…

Boy, we needn’t have worried!

To a man, everyone was exceptional. A real collective performance with the whole team bang at it, from the first whistle to the last. Mikel Arteta was afforded the opportunity to be able to bring off some off some of his stars to allow fringe players such as Elneny and Cedric some game time, along with the impressive 16 years old Nwaneri.

At this stage of the season and playing at a later time/date than Manchester City and Liverpool at the weekend, it’s important to keep ticking along, with the added pressure, and to be able to stay in touch with the pack.

What is pleasing me most at the moment, is not just the wins, but the style and execution of our performances and the goal contributions being shared out amongst the group. From a very dour run over the festive period to a free-flowing run – I am hoping our rich vein of form continues, as we approach the business end of the season.

January was a month I felt Arteta might have looked to add his striking firepower, looking for that elusive 20 goal a season striker, but with FFP on everyone’s radar, we now have to go with what we got and if we can keep Jesus fit, and with the re-introduction of Thomas Partey and Tomi – I feel we will have a big say in the title race, come May.

Looking at the front six from Sunday, it is so interchangeable and fluid, the possibilities are endless, with Havertz and Trossard especially versatile.

This is something that will be needed, as with the Champions League fast approaching a two-game week will start to become the norm and we will see if the squad and withstand the challenging schedule, unlike last season.

With the squad still growing together and becoming more experienced, the roles and responsibilities that Arteta is giving everyone, is working seamlessly now and long may it continue!

Keep the faith!
