14-time FA Cup winners Arsenal lost 2-0 to Liverpool at Emirates Stadium as Jurgen Klopp’s side progressed to the fourth round of the competition.

In a game that exemplified Arsenal’s lack of a cutting edge in front of goal, Jakub Kiwior’s own goal put Liverpool in front with ten minutes to go before Luis Diaz’ powerful finish sealed the win deep into stoppage time.

Aaron Ramsdale 7.5/10

Will face extra scrutiny every time he is given an opportunity between the sticks by Mikel Arteta, such is Arsenal’s goalkeeping debate. Could have had an assist to his name early on when his brilliant long ball played Nelson in on goal. Made a brilliant save down low to his near post to deny Luis Diaz, but there was nothing he could do to stop the Liverpool forward scoring Liverpool’s second goal.

Jakub Kiwior 5.5/10

Would have been relieved to see Mo Salah board the plane to the Africa Cup of Nations, but found it difficult against Luis Diaz all the same. Unfortunate to flick the ball past Ramsdale as Liverpool went in front.

Gabriel 6/10

Distributed the ball effectively from defence in a good display.

William Saliba 7/10

The odd loss of possession was made up for by a number of superb tackles and interceptions. Booked in the second half for pulling back Diogo Jota.

Ben White 6/10

Denied one of the best goals he will ever score by Alisson, after smashing the ball towards the roof of the net when it broke to him in the box.

Martin Odegaard 5.5/10

Smashed a good opportunity onto the crossbar as Arsenal almost capitalised on a defensive error. Couldn’t hide his frustration in the second half as his side tried in vain to find the net.

Jorginho 6/10

A stable presence to the left of Rice, coming into the Arsenal midfield as Havertz was pushed upfront.

Declan Rice 7/10

Set the tone in midfield, winning the ball back often and moving it forward.

Reiss Nelson 7/10

Could have given Arsenal a third minute lead after rounding Alisson but couldn’t convert from a narrow angle. Injected some real energy into the Arsenal side.

Kai Havertz 5/10

Drew plenty of saves from Alisson but never looked like really challenging the goalkeeper. Lacked ruthlessness upfront, backed by Mikel Arteta to lead the line in the absence of Gabriel Jesus but squandered too many opportunities.

Bukayo Saka 5.5/10

A stronger display than in recent games but the Hale End product still looks off-colour. Whether he will be afforded the chance for a rest by a gruelling fixture schedule is another question.

Martinelli (Sub, 62’) 6/10

Replaced the effective Nelson and was involved from the off, beating defenders for fun and bombing down the left. Like Arsenal as a whole, just really lacked that end product.

Eddie Nketiah (Sub, 81’)

Leandro Trossard (Sub, 88’)

Emile Smith Rowe Sub, 88’)

Subs not used: David Raya, Cedric Soares, Reuell Walters, Lino Sousa, Ethan Nwaneri.

When your front men are off target all game what is the point in giving Trossard and Smith Rowe 5 mins ? Subs needed to be made much, much earlier. As weak a Liverpool team as we will ever face and nobody capable of putting the ball in the net is criminal
