Arsenal Women 0-2 Aston Villa Women
Saturday 27th May 2023
Women’s Super League
Meadow Park
Player ratings:
Sabrina D’Angelo 6/10
Kept a clean sheet on debut against Aston Villa in the Conti Cup earlier this season. May well have been fouled in the immediate lead-up to Daly’s goal, with the ball knocked out of her hands.
Rafaelle 7/10
Played her final game for the club after it was announced that she would leave Arsenal in the summer after 18 months with the Gunners. Her standard strong performance today, reminding Arsenal of how much they will miss her. Will be frustrated by Lehmann’s goal, which went straight through her legs.
Lotte Wubben-Moy 6/10
Made her 100th Arsenal appearance and was often up from defence to float balls into the box for Blackstenius and Taylor. Has finished the season really strongly but will want to put some mistakes in the second half today behind her.
Jen Beattie 6/10
Kept a close eye on Rachel Daly when the ball was in the air, but Daly was just too good at times for the Arsenal defence.
Steph Catley 6/10
Couldn’t get forward as much as she would have liked to, with Villa’s counter attacks causing problems.
Frida Maanum 6.5/10
Will be looking forward to playing a little further forward again next season when Little and Walti return from injury.
Katie McCabe 6.5/10
Started on the right wing with Taylor on the opposite flank. Eager in the press as ever
Noelle Maritz 6/10
One of Arsenal’s better players this afternoon. Will play an important role for Switzerland at the World Cup later on this summer.
Victoria Pelova 6/10
Uses her body so well to turn one way and the other, another exciting display from the Dutch midfielder.
Stina Blackstenius 6.5/10
Always running in behind or dropping in to show for the ball- deserves a little rest before the World Cup that’s for sure. Taken off at half time.
Jodie Taylor 5.5/10
Had a lot of tracking back to do to support Catley who was often staying put in the back five rather than going forward. Moved upfront in the second half and missed a decent chance on the sixty minute mark.
Kathrine Kuhl (Sub, Half time’) 5.5/10
Linked up well with Catley initially before a relatively quiet second half. Needs to be more decisive in front of goal because she’s certainly capable.
Gio (Sub, 82’)
Subs not used: Manu Zinsberger, Kaylan Marckese, Ruby Doe, Michelle Agyemang, Katie Reid.
After her final game for the club, I asked @Rafaelleleone about her favourite goal for Arsenal ?? pic.twitter.com/yo4wB7a6oA
