Premier League starlet Ethan Nwaneri levelled for the Young Guns to make it 1-1 in the 90th minute of an enthralling academy North London derby at Meadow Park on Friday evening.

Spurs went ahead in the 37th minute when No7 Jude Soonsup-Bell put the visitors 1-0 up - with what proved looked to be the only goal separating two excellent sides.

Mehmet Ali’s strong Arsenal team included Ethan Nwaneri, Amario Cozier-Duberry, Myles Lewis Skelly as well as Jimi Gower and captain James Sweet, with the home side applying plenty of pressure in a bid to break down the visitors, who came to Meadow Park top of Premier League 2.

Lilywhites keeper Luca Gunter performed superbly to keep out the lively Young Guns throughout an absorbing clash at which included a superb late save following Arsenal captain James Sweet hitting the woodwork as the clock ticked down. However, just as Arsenal hopes appeared to be fading, up stepped Nwaneri to grab a thoroughly deserved point for the home side.

Find out who impressed with our Player Ratings from a cold Boreham Wood on Friday evening

1 - Ovie Ejeheri: 6/10 -  Never entirely convinced with his handling but was fortunate that a deflected shot looped off the bar and over

2 - Joshua Nichols: 7.5/10 - Showed superb vision to play a ball in behind that led to Cozier-Duberry’s first half ‘goal’ that was somehow chalked off for offside - leaving boss Mehmet Ali incandescent with the decision. Impressive going forward and defensively disciplined at the back

3 - James Sweet: 8/10 - Important blocks and interceptions from the captain at times against a lively visiting forward line. Dangerous going forward when the opportunity allowed against a good side and had a first half shot saved by Spurs keeper Luca Gunter. Not to mention hitting the woodwork late on as Arsenal piled on the pressure in the hunt for an equaliser

4 - Reuell Walters: 6/10 - Knew he was in a battle with the league leaders attackers. Slow to react to danger at times and has a tendency to switch off even if his natural gifts invariably allow him to recover at this level

5 - Ayden Heaven: 6/10 - Showed courage to play the ball out when the visitors swarmed all over the Young Guns backline. A strong performance in the air. Engaged in an absorbing duel with Spurs No9 Will Lankshear

6 - Myles Lewis-Skelly: 7.5/10 - Neat and tidy always available to give and take a pass in his role shielding the backline. Looked to supplement colleagues further forward by driving through the lines

7 - Amario Cozier-Duberry: 7.5/10 - Tricky and creative with a low centre of gravity that always makes him difficult to bounce off the ball. Works so hard offensively and defensively but just couldn’t break the visitors down

8 - Jack Henry Francis: 7/10 - Relished the battle in the heart of midfield

9 - Nathan Butler-Oyedeji: 6.5/10 - Ploughed a lone furrow up top for most of the game but was unlucky with an excellent low curler that Spurs keeper Luca Gunter palmed away

10 - Ethan Nwaneri: 8/10 - Fresh from his second substitute appearance in the Premier League during Mikel Arteta’s side’s 6-0 rout of West Ham the Young Guns forward looked a class act. Even if the talented 16-year-old was forced to drop deep in a bid to collect the ball and prompt attacks from the base of his backline his late leveller simply underlined just what a class act this talented teenage really is

11 - Jimi Gower: 7.5/10 - Always lively, always involved. Fired over when well-placed at the start of the second half

Substitute

14 - Ismeal Kabia: 7/10 - On for Lewis-Skelly late on after the former put in a shift against the old enemy
