Player ratings:

Manu Zinsberger 4/10

Sent the wrong way by Asseyi’s spot-kick. At fault for Cissoko’s goal a few minutes later, failing to claim Katrina Gorry’s free-kick which should have been easy pickings for the experienced goalkeeper.

Steph Catley 5.5/10

Delivered the corner for Russo’s header. Conceded a penalty after she was adjudged to have tripped Riko Ueki in the penalty area, although replays showed that the foul was committed just outside of the box.

Lotte Wubben-Moy 6/10

One of Arsenal’s stronger players at the back, resuming her partnership with Williamson for 45 minutes.

Leah Williamson 6.54/10

Started for Arsenal for the first time since sustaining an ACL injury in April 2023, and took the captain’s armband. Looked to play her trademark long balls over the top as she grew into the game. Replaced at half time by Amanda Ilestedt as Arsenal ease her back to full fitness.

Emily Fox 6/10

Impressed in the win over Liverpool, earning a nomination for WSL player of the month for January. Didn’t hit those heights in a difficult game for the Gunners this afternoon.

Lia Walti 6/10

Tussled with the impressive Katrina Gorry in a keenly-fought midfield battle. Took the captain’s armband in the second half.

Victoria Pelova 5/10

Had her moments but lacked conviction in and around the box. Doesn’t seem to trust her weaker left foot in shooting positions.

Caitlin Foord 5/10

Had scored in Arsenal’s last three games but couldn’t continue that streak.

Vivianne Miedema 6/10

Full of confidence after scoring an important goal last weekend, her first since returning from injury. Beat defenders with ease and smashed a shot onto the crossbar in the first half.

Beth Mead 5/10

Encouraged by Jonas Eidevall to play in an even wider role, but never really made her mark on the game in a difficult encounter for Arsenal’s wingers.

Alessia Russo 5.5/10

Gave Arsenal the lead just before half-time, heading home at the back post. Missed two excellent chances in the second half.

Amanda Ilestedt (Sub, 46’) 5.5/10

Filled in at the back alongside Wubben-Moy in the second half.

Cloe Lacasse (Sub, 63’) 6/10

Possibly Arsenal’s most dangerous player to be able to call upon from the bench, causing problems for the West Ham defence.

Stina Blackstenius (Sub, 63’) 5/10

Pressed fiercely but was starved of service. Missed a decent headed chance.

Kyra Cooney-Cross (Sub, 63’) 5/10

Moved the ball quickly in midfield.

Frida Maanum (Sub, 78’)

Subs not used: Sabrina D'Angelo, Naomi Williams, Amanda Ilestedt, Laia Codina, Kim Little.
