Goals from Frida Maanum (27’), Lotte Wubben-Moy (36’) and Stina Blackstenius (90+5) helped Arsenal Women to a 3-1 win over Bristol City at Meadow Park. Sille Struck made things difficult for the Gunners when she pulled a goal back (70’) but Arsenal were good value for their victory.

Player ratings:

Sabrina D’Angelo 6.5/10

Will be frustrated to have conceded at her near post from Struck’s effort, losing her clean sheet.

Katie McCabe 8/10

Made her 201st Arsenal appearance and was her usual vocal and encouraging self with the captain’s armband on her sleeve. Marshalled Teisar tightly in defence and delivered the cross for Wubben-Moy’s headed goal.

Lotte Wubben-Moy 8/10

Stepped up out from defence to try and win the ball back, picking her forward passes with ease. An excellent bit of movement and then flicked header to double Arsenal’s lead.

Jen Beattie 7/10

Should have done more to cut out the long free kick into the box that led to Sille Struck pulling a goal back for the visitors.

Noelle Maritz 7/10

Arguably the only player in the squad with no competition for her place, due to the long-term injury to Laura Wienroither. Will play most minutes until the return of the Austrian right-back.

Kathrine Kuhl 8/10

Worked hard to tackle and close players down and her footwork was exemplary. Will have given Jonas Eidevall a selection headache with that display, pulling the strings in midfield.

Kyra Cooney-Cross 7/10

Clearly eager to impress on her full debut having only played five minutes of football this season prior to tonight’s game. Showed glimpses of her talent to the Meadow Park faithful.

Frida Maanum 7.5/10

Timed her run and finished to perfection to put Arsenal ahead, striking the ball in off the underside of the crossbar midway through the first half.

Lina Hurtig 6/10

Lacked incisiveness in the final third- needs regular football to find her form and is unlikely to get it for the time being.

Stina Blackstenius 6.5/10

Played right on the shoulder of the last defender and was caught offside too many times, coming up against a resilient back five. Blasted a sitter over the crossbar in injury time but made up for it with a composed finish to net Arsenal’s third.

Beth Mead 6.5/10

Her first start since rupturing her ACL in November 2022, picking up an assist to tee up Maanum’s opener. Constantly looked to run in behind left-back Chloe Mustaki, playing 63 minutes as she continued her recovery.

Steph Catley (Sub, 63’) 7/10

Straight swap for McCabe at left-back- started on the bench for the first time all season.

Cloe Lacasse (Sub, 63’) 6.5/10

Worked hard to create chances in a powerful Arsenal forward line.

Caitlin Foord (Sub, 69’) 7/10

Struck the bar after cutting onto her right foot, almost sealing the game there and then for Arsenal. Created Blackstenius’ goal with a clever reverse pass.

Vivianne Miedema (Sub, 69’)

Also hit the crossbar, with a clever header not long after being introduced. Has the aura about her where the Dutch legend will always impact any game she is involved in.

Victoria Pelova (Sub, 85’)

Replaced Kyra Cooney-Cross in midfield.

Subs not used: Manu Zinsberger, Naomi Williams, Amanda Ilestedt, Alessia Russo.
