Chelsea Women 1-3 Arsenal Women

Selhurst Park Park

Continental Tyres League Cup Final

Manu Zinsberger 7.5/10

No chance to keep out Kerr’s header that went in off the underside of the crossbar. Made an important save down to her left to deny Leupolz in the 71st minute.

Noelle Maritz 6.5/10

Was given a difficult time by Guro Reiten, who delivered a number of crosses to set up Kerr including for Chelsea’s early goal. To her credit the Swiss right back kept working hard and played an important role at keeping Chelsea at bay in the second half.

Leah Williamson 8/10

Distributed the ball calmly in what was a frantic game at times, captained the Lionesses to Euro glory in the summer and lifted another trophy for her club today.

Rafaelle Souza 8.5/10

Unaware of the run from Kerr for Chelsea’s opener, but made some crucial last ditch tackles to stop Kerr and Chelsea attacking when the ball was turned over. Such a threat with her head at both ends of the pitch, heading Arsenal into a 3-1 lead on the stroke of half time, with the goal officially going down as an own goal by Niamh Charles.

Steph Catley 7.5/10

Delivered an inviting corner for Arsenal’s third goal and was able to assist Arsenal’s attacking play throughout.

Lia Walti 8/10

Struggled in last weekend’s FA Cup tie against Chelsea on her first start following a spell on the sidelines, but proved at Selhurst Park just how much she has been missed in Arsenal’s midfield.

Kim Little 9/10

Played her seventh League Cup final in Arsenal colours, and the experience proved vital as Arsenal’s captain scored from the spot to give the Gunners a 2-1 lead midway through the first half! Put her body on the line and played a significant role in Arsenal’s win- just didn’t seem to tire in any way as the game went on..

Frida Maanum 8.5/10

Played a role in Blackstenius’ equaliser, with her shot taking a deflection straight into the path of the striker. A key player all season long and was fantastic on the big stage this afternoon.

Katie McCabe 6.5/10

Started on the right wing and won Arsenal’s penalty with a turn past Sophie Ingle, who left a leg in to give the referee the opportunity to point to the spot. Booked for a late challenge on Chelsea goalkeeper Berger. Fouled regularly, whether it was trying to counter attack or being strongly challenged by Chelsea players in 50/50 duels, and was replaced by Pelova before the hour mark.

Caitlin Foord 8.5/10

A similar performance to last Sunday’s tie, causing all sorts of problems for the Chelsea full backs. Should have been awarded a second half penalty after she was caught by Buchanan.

Stina Blackstenius 7.5/10

A composed first time finish to equalise for Arsenal- should do her confidence the world of good. Didn’t see lots of the ball with Arsenal attacking frequently down the flanks, but worked tirelessly as ever to do the job asked of her by Jonas Eidevall.

Victoria Pelova (Sub, 57’) 7/10

Tested Ann-Katrin Berger with a good strike moments after being introduced

Laura Wienroither (Sub, 70’) 6/10

Was introduced just as Lauren James started to make her mark on the game, whom Maritz had subdued in her seventy minutes at right back.

Jen Beattie (Sub, 87’)

Helped to see Arsenal over the line in the semi final, and did the same again for her side at Selhurst Park.

Subs not used: Kaylan Marckese, Lotte Wubben-Moy, Kathrine Kuhl, Lina Hurtig.
