Arsenal pair Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice helped England beat Serbia to kick-off the Three Lions Euro 2024 tournament. 

Gareth Southgate's side won 1-0 through a 13th minute goal from Real Madrid's stellar star Jude Bellingham.

Jordan Pickford (7.5/10):

Deservedly equalled Peter Shilton's record of ten clean sheets in tournament football. Showed his quality by tipping Dusan Vlahovic's dangerous long-range effort over the bar. Vocal and organised in keeping an important shutout to start the competition

Kyle Walker (7/10):

Arguably England's best-ever right-back had another excellent match, both offensively and defensively including the ball for Saka's cross for Bellingham's goal

John Stones (7.5/10):

Looked rusty at times, but his quality trumped a lack of game time. Such an important player for the Three Lions who will grow into this tournament 

Marc Guehi (8.5/10):

A superb performance in the first tournament game of his short but hugely promising career. Showed composure, athleticism, positioning and power to keep Mitrovic quiet

Kieran Trippier (6/10):

Not his best game, failed to support colleagues further forward and looked a weak link on the left

Declan Rice (8/10):

Another superb performance for England as a No6 allowing another world class midfielder, Jude Bellingham to operate further forward. Has an innate ability to sniff out danger. Would substitute Kobbie Mainoo be a better partner despite the United youngster's underwhelming performance against Iceland

Trent Alexander-Arnold (6/10):

Sixty touches, three shots, one on target. Failed to grasp the chance given to him by Gareth Southgate in playing him alongside Rice, when perhaps Mainoo should be the Arsenal midfielder's partner

Jude Bellingham (9/10):

A world class performance from a world class performer. Scored and was majestic in midfield with his talent, technique and energy, while also showing Serbia who was boss by being unafraid to intimidate tough players. Became only the fifth player to score England's opening goal at two major tournaments with a brave and brilliant header. Wonderful to see him barge into the stunned Kostic in a bid to impose an early pyschological dominance  

Bukayo Saka (7.5/10):

Lively on the right which included an assist as he terrified Filip Kostic and Stranhinja Pavlovic throughout a superb first half. Never stopped runnning and never stopped working in a bid to ensure the Serbia backline was unable to settle. Faded slightly after the break before being withdrawn for Bowen but an excellent performance nevertheless

Harry Kane (5/10):

Unable to make an impact and should have scored when his header was pushed on to the bar by Serbia keeper Predrag Rajkovic in his first and only chance of a poor game by his standards

Phil Foden (5/10):

Surprisingly inneffective which was a shame given his talent. Could the inherently cautious Southgate have swapped the City attacker for Cole Palmer late on

Came on to give England a timely boost midway through the second half 

Jarrod Bowen (7/10):

On for the busy Saka and made an immediate impact by setting up Kane's header at a perfect time to keep momentum going. Thrived on picking up second balls and winning tactical fouls to deny fledgling Serbia attacks 

Kobbie Mainoo (6/10):

Good to see him make his major tournament debut as he replaced the imperious Bellingham late on
