Arsenal Women 2-3 Wolfsburg Frauen after extra time (4-5 aggregate)

Emirates Stadium

UEFA Women’s Champions League

Semi final second leg

Manu Zinsberger 7.5/10

Good in possession, a calm presence on the ball who won most of her aerial duels, claiming so many high balls.

Lotte Wubben-Moy 8.5/10

The childhood Gooner settled into the game well after the nerves of the early VAR decision that eventually went in her favour. An excellent showing that culminated in a brilliant cross to set up centre back partner Beattie’s equaliser, but cruelly it was her error that led to Bremer’s winner after such a good display.

Jen Beattie 8/10

A rock in the centre of defence in the first leg. Booked for a foul on Pajor early on in the second half but kept her cool at the back before being thrown upfront by Jonas Eidevall, and heading home to equalise before knocking over Popp in her celebration! Tired with cramp in extra time but battled on.

Rafaelle Souza 7.5/10

Delivered some excellent challenges to stop Wolfsburg attacks and drove forward with the ball. Didn’t get tight enough to Popp for her header.

Noelle Maritz 7/10

Did so well to assist Blackstenius just after half time but she was adjudged offside. Replaced by Wienroither midway through the second half.

Lia Walti 8/10

Resumed an intriguing battle with Jill Roord, and similarly to the first leg seemed to be a constant target of Wolfsburg’s fouls. The weight of her pass to set up Blackstenius’ goal was perfect.

Frida Maanum 7.5/10

Silky in possession, including a sumptuous flicked pass in the first half. Was thwarted a few times by the Wolfsburg defence, wasting a couple of good chances as the game went on.

Steph Catley 7.5/10

Able to get forward at times and assist the Arsenal press. Looks to be back to her best after her recent injury.

Victoria Pelova 8/10

Always uses possession effectively and made some important defensive interventions- what a brilliant signing the Dutch midfielder was in January. "It looks like she has played in Arsenal forever, the way she plays" said Jonas Eidevall following the second leg.

Katie McCabe 8/10

Won the ball off Oberdorf with a crunching challenge to start the move that led to Blackstenius’ goal. A combative, physical presence in an extremely physical and hard-hitting game.

Stina Blackstenius 8/10

Fantastic pressure and composure in front of goal to take the ball around Frohms after Hendrich and the goalkeeper’s indecision. Made countless runs in behind to offer Arsenal a direct option in her fiftieth game for the Gunners.

Laura Wienroither (Sub, 64’)

Had to be stretchered off after going down in rather innocuous fashion when she was beaten to the ball by Jonsdottir.

Lina Hurtig (Sub, 64’) 7/10

Wasn’t as poor as some have suggested in her return from injury but will be rueing her chance that was straight at Frohms early on in extra time.

Kathrine Kuhl (Sub, 82’) 7/10

An energetic display that kept left back Felicitas Rauch very much occupied.

Michelle Agyemang (Sub, 120’)

Subs not used: Sabrina D’Angelo, Kaylan Marckese, Teyah Goldie, Katie Reid, Laila Harbert.
