Frida Maanum’s curling strike was the difference as Arsenal picked up three important points in their return to WSL action, after Katie McCabe had an early penalty saved.

Sabrina D’Angelo 7.5/10

Returned to the Arsenal side after a run of starts for Manu Zinsberger. Controls her penalty area really well- always pushing up onto the edge of the box to help her team in possession. Made a strong save to deny Cain in the first half.

Lotte Wubben-Moy 7/10

Impressive with her long passing, something that Arsenal miss in the absence of Leah Williamson. Physical presence

Jen Beattie 6.5/10

Won all of her aerial duels and was solid as always.

Rafaelle Souza 6.5/10

Accurate with the ball at her feet and played an important role in closing out the game, resisting some late pressure from the Foxes.

Noelle Maritz 6/10

Will no longer face competition from Laura Wienroither for the right back spot after the Austrian suffered an ACL injury on Monday. Found plenty of space down the right flank

Lia Walti 6.5/10

Labelled the “Calm head” in the Arsenal side as stand-in vice captain for the rest of the season, by Katie McCabe in her programme notes. Marked closely by Josie Green but did well to control the base of midfield before dropping into the middle of the back three in the final stages.

Frida Maanum 8/10

Often took the game into her own hands and drove forward with the ball at her feet. Scored yet another worldie to give Arsenal the lead, curling the ball into the top corner just inside the box, and she could have had a hat trick if not for some excellent stops from Leitzig.

Victoria Pelova 7.5/10

Similarly to Kuhl, Pelova was coming back onto midfield to try and start Arsenal attacks, which the likes of McCabe would then develop at pace. Leicester found it impossible to keep her quiet in the midfield.

Katie McCabe 7.5/10

Dropped into the left wing back role as Kuhl came in for Catley, doing so again after Catley came on but then went off with an injury. Won the early penalty but couldn’t convert it- a good save by Leitzig.

Kathrine Kuhl 6/10

So good at creating space for herself, almost akin to a certain Kim Little, and dropping deep to start attacking moves. Lacked composure in front of goal but that will surely come- needs to be more selfish when she gets her chances.

Stina Blackstenius 6/10

Made all the right runs and linked up the play well after returning from a quad injury. Replaced by Taylor thirteen minutes into the second half.

Steph Catley (Sub, 58’)

Gave Arsenal the ability to use McCabe further forward whilst Catley delivered crosses from deep. Went off after picking up an injury in the 72nd minute.

Jodie Taylor (Sub, 58’) 7/10

Picked up the assist for Maanum’s goal and provided Arsenal the fresh legs that they needed from the bench.

Gio Queiroz (Sub, 75’)

Michelle Agyemang (Sub, 99’)

Subs not used: Manu Zinsberger, Kaylan Marckese, Teyah Goldie, Katie Reid.
