What a week it’s been for Arsenal.

For the first time this season we’ve experienced some lows, but sticking to the narrative fuelled by belief, we emerged from the fire on top of the league.

Wednesday night was a wake-up call for us all, I wouldn’t say we played badly against Manchester City, but errors ultimately cost us, and we couldn’t match their clinical dagger in front of goal.

The Aston Villa game was always going to be a challenge, it was as monuments of an occasion as the City game, but this time we really had to win, there was no room for a slip up after some weaknesses shone through in midweek.

The game started far from desired, a Villa goal within five minutes and a look of fatigue about the team.

Bukayo Saka showed why he’s ‘that man’ in our squad with an audacious finish to bring us level which was again cancelled out by a fantastic Villa goal that looked to stun the defence.

Oleksandr Zinchenko hit his first Premier League and Arsenal goal midway through the first half – what a strike it was – and then we switched it all back on.

When you look at Arsenal sides in the past, there’s little hope of coming back away from home, whether it’s been a mentality thing or simply a lack of desire to resurrect, this season has taught us to never count this squad out of any contest.

After the week we’d had and having to listen to critics splurging their joy that Arsenal had fallen to City, the way that we won the Villa game was utter perfection.

A controlled 2-0 win would’ve done the same job, but something about a last-minute winner brings everyone that little bit closer.

We’ve heard putridly envious pundits groan on and on about it being a long season, and anything can change in the Premier League, we went into the game in second after being taught a lesson by City, and we enter Monday back on top, two clear with a game in hand.

Yes, things can change, we’re all too aware of that, but let’s enjoy what’s going on here.

The celebrations, the lack of doubt from the players after going behind twice away from home, the overall desire to win, that’s Arsenal this season, that’s Mikel Arteta’s way and that’s what we celebrate every single week, rain, or shine.
