A scheduling issue that concerns Arsenal Women has been raised following the publication of Boreham Wood's National League South fixtures for the 2024/25 season.
Last Friday's UEFA Women's Champions League qualification draw saw Arsenal picked to play Rangers in a mini-tournament that also featured Atletico Madrid and Rosenborg.
Arsenal confirmed that they would host the tournament at Meadow Park, home of Boreham Wood, with the two semi-finals scheduled on Wednesday, September 4 as per UEFA rules.
However, the National League South fixtures have put the Wood up against Worthing at Meadow Park on the same day as the club were due to host Arsenal v Rangers and Atletico Madrid v Rosenborg.
Boreham Wood chairman Danny Hunter stated back in May that the club were keen to host Arsenal's qualification fixtures for the 2024/25 Champions League, raising questions as to how the sixth tier side have been scheduled to play at home on the same day as Arsenal's match.
The club may move their match against Worthing to Tuesday, September 3, which would in turn lead to three matches in two days played on Meadow Park's grass surface.
Alternatively, the two mini-tournament semi-finals could also be moved to a different day.
Considering Boreham Wood were publicly so keen to host these UWCL games it does seem strange that the fixtures have come out this way. No doubt that it’ll be resolved but this could have been avoided
