So, after a minor wobble, we appear to have got ourselves back on track with that emphatic 5-0 win over Palace at the Emirates, and then got over the line on the banks of the River Trent earlier this week.  

The hard-fought 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest – at a bogey ground for us - saw Mikel Arteta’s side dominate play and possession for nigh on 85 minutes, even if we had to hold on for the last remnants of the game. 

Thankfully we persevered and got the three points in the end that we deserved based on our overall performance.

The result put us a mere two points behind Liverpool, before they eased past a poor Chelsea side 4-1 on Wednesday evening at Anfield, to set up our blockbuster clash in North London this weekend.  

Personally, I think there’s a three-horse title race for the rest of the season. Unai Emery and Ange Postecoglu’s flimsy title challenge is over (sorry not sorry ‘maaaaate’).  

What we do expect is Manchester City and Liverpool to take us to the wire. I can honestly see us keeping pace with them.

And wouldn’t it be good to take it up to the last day of the season (even though I would prefer it to be won before then - mostly to save our tickers from giving out). 

If we can get any form of result in our two games against Liverpool and City then we are in with a very good shout.  

However, we have the usual bletherers (a Scottish word – google it) insisting we don’t have a proven goalscorer to take us to that level - but what I would say to counter that is we do have the attacking players to take us that little bit further than we did last season. 

We will also hopefully have Thomas Partey and Jurrien Timber back for the run-in, as well as a fit again Emile Smith-Rowe – who, incidentally, had a great game against Forest, even if he did tire a little in the latter stages before being subbed - so that will definitely put us in good stead for the title challenge. 

Don’t forget we ‘only’ have the Champions League to compete in, whereas the other teams have these games as well as FA Cup games to play - so the longer they are in those competitions the better, which, I’m convinced, will lead to the pair dropping vital Premier League points before the end of the season. 

 It will be hard, but I think we can take the challenge to our two rivals and surprise everybody.  

Of course, there is a very long way to go, with plenty of twists and turns to come – but, many of you will remember that no-one gave us an earthly in ‘89 against an all-conquering Liverpool side. And that didn’t turn out too badly.
