The best player performances from Arsenal players in the 2023/2024 season

Title contenders to the very last game. Despite losing out on the Premier League title to Manchester City on the final day, Arsenal can be proud of their season and what they’ve achieved, fighting Manchester City the whole way. It was always going to be tough to take down a strong Manchester City side that has now won four titles on the bounce, however Arsenal showed it is possible if you play well enough.

Despite falling at the final hurdle, Arsenal have had some memorable moments, and some stand out performances over the season, ones the fans can look back proudly at. Just like when playing megaway games, they’ve managed to keep their calm and composure in so many of their games this season resulting in a fantastic points tally.

In this article we’ll take a look at some of the best Arsenal player performances over the course of the season and what made them so special.

Odegaard vs Chelsea 5-0

Ultimately not the Chelsea side of days gone by with the likes of Lampard and Drogba, but still a decent side with a world class manager, Arsenal and Odegaard made Chelsea look like Sunday league team in this fixture. Arsenal Thrashed Chelsea 5-0 and at the time kept them firmly in the hunt for the Premier League Title.

Despite goals from Trossard, Havertz and Ben White, it was Odegaard who stole the show, running the game from start to finish. With two assists, controlling the tempo of the game and ensuring Arsenal were free flowing the whole game, whilst having the pressure of keeping up with Manchester City, it was a real testament to their captain who has put in performances time and time again this season.

Saka vs West Ham 0-6

A true indication of how good Arsenal were this season, going away to a very good West Ham team who had won a European cup the season before, and blowing them away 6-0. It was a result not even the hardest of Arsenal fans would’ve expected. With a goal from the penalty spot and one from open play, Saka kept his cool and slotted home to add to West Ham’s worries. Despite West Ham’s awful performance, take nothing away from how clinical Arsenal were in this game, taking their chances and creating plenty of opportunities.

Trossard vs Wolves 2-0

Rrossard has a habit of scoring vital goals, and this game was no different. Against a tough Wolves side that have a habit of being hard to play against and going away to Wolves is always a difficult game, late goals in each half from Trossard and Odegaard secured a vital win on the road for the gunners. It wasn’t just his goal that stood out, linking up play and causing problems all game for the Wolves defenders allowed the other players space and time to cause damage.

Trossard has really been an unsung hero for Arsenal this season, whether it’s off the bench or starting, he’s always delivered and been a real issue for defenders in every game he’s played. Worth every penny since signing for Arsenal from Brighton.

Raya vs Porto

Only Porto stood between Arsenal and their first knockout stage for fourteen years. Despite winning 1-0 on the night, a draw on aggregate meant extra time. Despite playing their hearts out, they couldn’t find a goal and it all came down to a penalty shootout. Raya who had come in for Ramsdale earlier in the season was still trying to prove to the Arsenal faithful he was the man to stand between the sticks for the Gunners.

Ramsdale ends the shootout saving two penalties to help Arsenal secure a 4-2 shootout win sending them to the semifinals. That day Raya became a fan favourite and a hero, and although Arsenal didn’t end up winning, it was a real moment to look back on.

Saliba vs Crystal Palace 2-0

Going away to Crystal Palace can be a real bogey team for some as it can be an extremely difficult place to go. They’re a really difficult team to play against sitting deep and will hit you on the counterattack if you’re not careful. Luckily Arsenal had Saliba at the back, mopping up any loose balls and making crunching tackles to ensure Arsenal kept their lead and took all three points.

Although Arsenal didn’t end up taking the Premier League trophy, they can look back on this season with real pride and joy knowing they played their hearts out and gave some great performances. Going toe to toe with Manchester City is no easy task, and to do this until the final day of the season is a real testament to the team.
