After Arsenal Women produced yet another comeback in a hugely important game, Jonas Eidevall reflected on how his side were able to turn the game around at the Volkswagen Arena.

“We have three values as a team”, said the head coach. “We have to put the team first, we have to be one hundred percent, and we have to be fearless. So today, we need all three values, and I think the best example is when we conceded the second goal. Of course it’s a mistake to do that, of course it’s a difficult situation to be 2-0 down but you have the choice to say we’re still going to be one hundred percent even if it’s a tough situation”.

“A mistake cannot be the defining of us- the way we respond to a mistake, that can be the defining of us as a team. I am beyond proud to see that response from the players”.

Looking at how he approached today’s game, Eidevall told the media “We knew today was going to be tough. We had one mission when we came here- it was to get a result so we could take this game back to London. That’s what we accomplished, it’s nothing more, nothing less for us. Nothing is decided yet, but the game is very much alive”.

Eidevall also revealed that Josh Kroenke, Tim Lewis, Lord Harris and Vinai Vinkatesham all travelled to Wolfsburg to support the Gunners, and spoke to the team ahead of the game.

Stina Blackstenius also spoke to the media, so her thoughts on the first leg will be up soon.
