Here's Claudia Loy's Three Things We Learned series after Arsenal Women's 3-0 win over West Ham at the weekend

Alessia Russo’s work rate is top tier

Everyone knows about Russo’s hold up play, but her ability to press and close players down is also second to none. Before her assist for the third goal, it is her pressing and speed/awareness to get in front of the defender that creates the opportunity.

I’ve been impressed by her tenaciousness so far this season and the assists she has provided as well as the two goals she has scored in the league. She runs the channels for fun and always anticipating where the defender will play the ball before they’ve even played it.

Beth Mead is back (for good hopefully!)

She scored a brace and showed confidence to take on the shot for her first goal. This is positive for Arsenal and for the lionesses who have a big game coming up.

She really looked comfortable in this game, and the first goal showed her ability to, again, come up with big moments for this team.

I’ve heard it said that after an ACL injury it can take the same amount of time as the injury itself to get back to playing how you were playing before the injury.

Not if Beth Mead is anything to go by! She was the player of the match and she looks like she’s finding her groove again.

Meadow Park is a good ground for getting results

We have won all our games at Meadow Park this season. We are now eight games unbeaten in all competitions, which includes The Emirates and away games, but at Meadow Park specifically the players seem to be relentless and relaxed when they play.

The fans there have been extremely loud this season, which helps I’m sure, but I also think there’s something about the size of the pitch and the closeness to the fans which helps too.

There’s also the fact that it’s been home for so many years, so the players are used to playing there. They have outgrown it, but for now at least it seems to be a happy home.
