Arsenal came from two goals down at half-time to rout Leicester City 6-2 at King Power Stadium and move up to second in the Women's Super League table.

Here's Claudia Loy with Three things We Learned from Arsenal’s comeback victory against Leicester at the King Power Stadium last Sunday, ahead of the Gunners trip to Brighton this weekend

The team continues to improve its resilience

In 2022, the group lost 2-0 away to Birmingham City with two goals in the first half, and both halves were flat and the team never really looked like they were going to get back into it.

This time, you got the feeling they peaked in the second half. The team has often rescued points from drawing or losing positions already this season and often scores late on.

Considering the team was still getting used to a makeshift midfield, that is impressive. Yes, it will be a concern that they went down by two goals to a team that they should be beating, but it’s an encouraging sign going forward.

Too many goals are being conceded from balls into the box

Another concern is that several of the goals the team has conceded this season have been either from set pieces or well worked moves ending with a ball into the box and good movement from the goal scorer. We need to be aware of the space and avoid switching off.

These type of goals are a strength of Chelsea’s so we will need to be hyper aware of this on Sunday, December 10, when we face them at the Emirates. Sam Kerr anyone?

Winning is becoming a habit

The team has won the last five games in all competitions after a ‘slow start to the season’ which included being eliminated from the Champions League.

This was put to Victoria Pelova, who said ‘I don’t really care what people say’. We don’t either Vic because this team is young and will keep improving. More trophies will come.

I’ve avoided clichés so far so allow me to end with one: winning is a habit. The sooner we can build on the foundations of this habit, the sooner we’ll win a trophy.
