Arsenal midfielder Victoria Pelova was dealt an injury blow in the Netherlands' 1-1 draw with Finland last night (Tuesday, June 4).
Pelova was forced off with a knee injury after just 12 minutes, landing awkwardly after colliding with Finland's Emma Koivisto.
Head coach Andries Jonker was asked if he immediately feared the worst, referring to the possibility of an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury. "Yes, that is one of the downsides of being a manager for a women's team. You're confronted with the ACL very quickly," said Jonker.
"When they go down holding their knee, every time you think- it can't be true.
"They're going to examine [Pelova], but the doctor said we have to examine it properly. And when that's said, I pay attention."
