Miedema wins May's Goal of the Month
It simply had to be, didn't it?
Vivianne Miedema's farewell goal in Arsenal colours during the 5-0 rout of Brighton at Meadow Park on the last day of the WSL season has been voted the Gunners goal of the month.
The 27-year-old Dutch forward joined the club from Bayern Munich in 2017 and went on to score 125 goals and provide 50 assists in her 172 appearances in Arsenal colours.
Vivianne played an integral part in the side which won the Barclays Women’s Super League title in the 2018-19 season, while she also won three FA Women's Continental Tyres League Cups during her time in North London.
Viv is also the current all-time top-scorer in the WSL, winning the WSL Golden Boot in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.
She was also voted Arsenal’s Player of the Season in the 2019-20 campaign and won the BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year award in 2021.
Sporting Director Edu Gaspar said of Viv's departure: “On behalf of everyone at the club, we thank Viv for her huge contribution towards the success of the team during her seven years with us.
"Viv’s goals and overall performances as an Arsenal player have been of the highest quality, and she has created so many wonderful memories for us over the years.
"We wish Viv and her family the best of health and happiness for the future.”
