Mikel Arteta gave a rousing, rallying cry during his end of season, post-match speech on the Emirates pitch, shortly after his Arsenal side had beaten Everton 2-1.
While his talented team had turned around a 1-0 deficit after Gueye put the Toffees ahead with five minutes to go, through Takehiro Tomiyasu's leveller three minutes later, prior to Kai Havertz's 89th minute winner, Arsenal fell two points short of Premier League glory, when billionaire moneybags Manchester City sealed the title with a 3-1 victory over West Ham at the Etihad.
However, the young, hungry Arsenal boss was not to be unbowed when he spoke to the adoring Emirates crowd after the match.
Arteta took the mic and urged his side to do the same next season as the club continues its journey under his leadership.
“All this is happening because you started believing,” Mikel said. “You started to be patient, you started to understand what we were trying to do and all the credit has to go to these amazing players, and the staff that are unbelievable.
“I think now it’s time to have a break, think, reflect and please, keep pushing, keep inspiring this team. Don’t be satisfied because we want much more than that, and we’e going to get it. Thank you so much.”
