Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has issued a rallying cry to Gooners everywhere when he admitted he can’t wait for pre-season to begin and launch another push towards silverware.
The Gunners captain has been outstanding all season as the North Londoners ended up as runners up for the second successive year.
Odegaard grabbed two assists as the skipper played his part in the 2-1 comeback victory against Everton that saw Arsenal end the season on a high with a sixth win on the bounce.
Despite billionaire moneybags Manchester City sealing the title by a mere two points, Odegaard was bullish at the end of the match when he spoke to adoring fans.
“I think we’re all a little bit disappointed at the moment to be honest, we’ve all been fighting for so long for the big dream," he admitted, adding: "We were so close, but at the same time I am so proud of the boys and everyone at the club, as well as the fans.
“I’m so proud of the progress we’re making from when I first came here all the way to today, it’s such a big difference. We’ve changed the club and I think you all believe in us now. To be honest I can’t wait to come back after the break and make you guys even more happy, that’s the goal.
“We’re on a good wave, we’re closer than last year but now we have to use the break and come back even stronger and even more hungry, and push to win everything.”
In his final message to our supporters before he heads off for a break after a long, hard but ultimately memorable season, the captain added: “Honestly guys, I can’t thank you enough for everything you do for us. The support we have at away games, it feels like we’re playing at home, and home games are just a different level.
“We can’t thank you enough and we love you so much, so thank you.”
