WHAT TO EXPECT FROM ARSENAL WOMEN’S SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON

Jonas Eidevall's side have 12 league games remaining and the Gunners must get back to winning ways immediately to keep their title hopes alive.

Before the winter break Arsenal suffered a shock defeat to their North London rivals and in a 22-game season, dropping points at any stage can ultimately cost you the title.

But as the level of competition continues to surge in the WSL, the level of unpredictability rises in conjunction - but this could benefit Arsenal in the defining half of the season.

After 10 games they sit three points behind the current and five-time WSL champions Chelsea - despite thrashing the title favourites 4-1 before the break.

The Spurs loss means Arsenal can only focus on securing three points every week, and hope teams around the top drop points.

The Gunners remain in contention of the FA Cup and League Cup - two competitions the club display a rich history of success in.

Arsenal will hope to defend their League Cup title after being crowned champions in March last year following a 3-1 victory over Chelsea.

They face Reading in the final group stage tie on Wednesday 24 January where a win will see them through to the quarter final stage.

No team in Women’s FA Cup history has experienced more success than Arsenal - tallying a record 14 Cup victories.

But their most recent triumph was back in 2016 - Jonas Eidevall will be hoping to bring the trophy back home to North London and prevent the seven-year wait getting any longer.

A comfortable 5-1 win over Championship side Watford saw them through to the fifth round and the draw will be taking place on Monday 15th January.

The next few months are going to be pivotal as Arsenal challenge for three pieces of silverware and hope to end a four-year wait to lift the WSL trophy.
