The group stage of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup has surpassed all expectations, with thrilling games, underdog upsets and most notably some of the top ranked teams knocked out at the first hurdle.
Canada, Brazil and Germany will all be flying home early after failing to qualify for the knockout stages. Arsenal’s Canadian striker Cloe Lacasse and goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo, along with Ireland captain Katie McCabe, are the three Gunners to be exiting the competition following the conclusion of the group stage on Thursday.
The Round of 16 gets underway on Saturday, with twelve Arsenal players involved across seven teams. One game sees Arsenal team mates go up against each other, with Australia taking on Denmark.
