File under: A fool never learns

Even a glass half-full supporter is angry with Le Boss after the conclusion of last night’s late, late show

File under: A fool never learns

Ray Kennedy tribute in away section: The calm before the storm

I can forgive the lineman for chalking off Bendtner's legitimate goal that would have given us a 4-3 lead last night. Until the technology already available is employed by the football's stubborn authorities, the lino's physically impossible job will continue to be littered with avoidable mistakes in top-level football. This is not a Sunday morning kick-around, and such trivialising analogies should never be made.

What I cannot forgive is Arsenal's collective failure to learn from the same mistake, on the same f***ing ground, almost exactly a year ago. Our players over-celebrated Adebayor's goal from Walcott's amazing run and, barely a minute later, paid the ultimate penalty. Before last night's game Wenger said we had put that defeat behind us. I didn't realise that he meant we'd utterly failed to heed an obvious, painful and very public lesson.

It would not be human to shun celebrating taking the lead (for the third time) at Anfield on the stroke of full-time. All I could think of, though, was CONCENTRATE! It took a full minute for the game to restart. Two minutes later Liverpool were level. Déjà vu, all over again. Load of Ballacks, one might conclude.

Down the years footballers have never been known for their intellect, yet intelligence is a favourite Wenger word when describing a player he likes. That no member of the coaching staff has instilled the virtue of concentrating until the Fat Lady sings is obvious. In case you don't yet realise, may I finish by stating that I'm severely p*ssed off this morning?
