An open letter to Kieran Gibbs

Words of encouragement for yesterday evening’s fall guy

An open letter to Kieran Gibbs

Gibbs: We believe

Like most Gooners I'm really sorry to hear that you were devastated by your cruel accident in the Champions League semi-final. But when you've seen as many games as I have you will come to recognise that sh*t happens. And very often it happens to the Arsenal. Forget about it, don't let it bother you and don't think for one minute you have let anyone down because you obviously haven't. As I'm quite sure you've already been told by your manager, all the Arsenal staff and your team-mates. So listen to them.

And listen to me when I tell you that you've put in a far more effort and numerous superior performances than have many of your more senior colleagues in recent weeks. I'm pretty sure I speak for pretty well all the genuine supporters when I tell you that we believe you are a seriously good prospect and will be one of our stars of the future. The job you did at Old Trafford was amazing given the quality of your opponents and indeed the job you've done in the first team to date has been outstanding. Especially so for one with your limited experience of the position. I hope we see you in more games this season and with luck you'll be featuring with the England under 21's this summer - you should be as you've certainly done enough to earn a place in their squad.

Good luck mate, we're rooting for you.
