Some balance in the face of some of the more negative reaction to the recent cup exits

Vieira: So where’s the next one then?

I can’t quite believe what I am hearing from the majority of people writing in; maybe it’s a fact that the people who do e-mail their views all have, by chance, a collective negative view on things, but do all of you not see what is actually happening and what Arsene has achieved?

While not spending fortunes on players and bankrupting our future he has maintained our status, one that he built, as one of the top four clubs in the Premier League and one of the top 10 in Europe, at worst.

Last year we were a whisker away from the Premier League, this year we reached the semi final of the FA Cup and Champions League and guaranteed Champions League Football for next year; this is on par with what Chelsea may end up achieving and in all likelihood better than what Liverpool will achieve.

Not bad at all when you consider how much our squad cost in comparison to Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool (let alone the rest of the no-hopers like Tottenham, Villa and West Ham who keep spending fortunes and getting nowhere) and that our squad could well be around for another five to eight years, while the likes of Chelsea will have to rebuild their’s next season.

Also, when I read e-mails / articles and hear people complain that Arsene hasn’t bought anyone, I always wonder which players these people have in mind; I assume they know who the next Seaman, Adams, Keown, Bergkamp, Vieira, Petit, Wright, Pires, Ferdinand, Vidic, Terry, Gerard, Torres, Ronaldo (take your pick) and Drogba are, but they never seem to mention them, or if they do they mention ridiculous targets who would only be sold for a kings ransom!

The list of recent transfers below just shows how much has to be paid these days for players who turn out to be little better than average. In all honesty, when taking into account the cost and ability, who out of this lot would you take over our current squad?

Berbatov 38m Euros
Hargreaves - 25m Euros
Robinho - 40m Euros
Johan Elmander – 13.8m Euros

Savio Nsereko – 10.7m Euros
Nigel Reo-Coker – 12m Euros
Ivanovic – 12m Euros

N Anelka – 19.8m Euros

Come on guys, we should be getting behind our team and our manager; does anyone really want Arsene to leave and if so who should we replace him with? Pardew, Allardyce, Jose??????

The Arsenal are a great club, we have a great manager and in all honesty a great squad; one that is the envy of almost every club in the land and we must get behind them. Unfortunately we have lost out to one of the most powerful clubs in the world in Man Utd and a team built off the back of a billionaire, Chelsea; both have potentially precarious financial futures governed by the will of single men; either one of them could become another Leeds!!! At present, from what I know Arsenal has no chance of going down that route... is that something any real fan would want to change?
