Squad only needs a couple of additions to win silverware once more

Close to the good times again

Vermaelen: Let’s hope he stays fit!

If the Togolese one had run as fast last season while playing for us than he did at Eastlands recently then he would still be in our team and would still be having the song with the original lyrics sung about him instead of the re-jigged version. Anyway selling him for £25 million was cracking business as we're now rid of him and he's Man City’s problem. If nothing else team spirit is much better as are our results, or at least were before our two trips to Manchester. Hopefully just a temporary blip.

At the end of last summer Le Boss said at last that he was going to bring in more experience, well Vermaelan apart it's exactly the same squad as last season. Of our three reserve centre backs the best one of the three, Djourou is out for six months at least, leaving Silvestre and Senderos as back up. The same Senderos who was run ragged and bullied by Drogba on numerous occasions and turned inside out by Torres at Anfield in the Champions League. Hangeland was there for the taking all summer, he couldn't have made it more obvious he wanted to come to us. But no, our bloody stubborn manager digs his heels in again. And as soon as the window closes Djourou gets seriously injured. I hope for Arsene Wenger’s sake our defenders stay fit otherwise I think he's going to be getting some serious stick as to why he didn't buy some quality back up defender.

We have Rosicky, Arshavin and Walcott to come back soon and Nasri as well, hopefully next month, so we have a luxury of riches in midfield. Vela to come back up front added to Bendtner, Eduardo and RVP, probably joined by Chamakh in next transfer window, so fine up front as well, a really fine squad . All I think we need is one more defender and a quality defensive midfielder, and we're really in with a chance of silverware this season.

I just remembered Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilkshire as well so good young talent coming through too. So don't despair Gooners. I really think with a couple of quality additions we're close to the good times again.
