Arsenal forward Beth Mead has credited interim head coach Renee Slegers with “making us feel good” following the resignation of Jonas Eidevall after a difficult start to the season.
Slegers’ side beat Brighton 5-0 on Friday, and the Dutchwoman is unbeaten in four games in interim charge.
Speaking before Tuesday’s trip to Juventus, Mead said: “We’ve obviously worked with Renee for quite a while now in different roles to what she’s in now, but I think she’s took like a duck to water. It’s been an easy transition for us and the group.
“We know what she gives us, the confidence she gives us, we’re playing good football so I think as individuals and as a collective we’re very happy with what Renee’s doing for us right now.
“She deserves the credit of making us feel good and the performances that have been coming on the pitch as well.”
Slegers confirmed that Mariona Caldentey missed the win over Brighton with a minor muscle injury, but has trained today (Monday) before Arsenal fly to Italy.
The interim head coach remains in charge for three more games ahead of the next international break, including key Champions League clashes with Juventus either side of the North London Derby away to Tottenham on Saturday.
