No Robbie Keane, Spurs have no depth

Arsenal versus Spurs, the er… evenly matched squads?

No Robbie Keane, Spurs have no depth

As much as I'd love to believe Robbie Keane when he bragged that his squad is on par with ours I really just can't see it. I could see it even less at the game on Saturday. Despite my reservations I've tried to do a fairly serious man-for-man, like-for-like match up and in conclusion see things very differently to Keane. The more you look into it the more you realise that Spurs have no depth whatsoever and absolutely no youths coming through apart from O'Hara and the lumbering Huddlestone. The comparisons were based on the squad players named in Saturday's match programme. The best player for each position, in my opinion, is shown in bold.

Van Persie - Defoe (Have you ever seen Defoe set up a goal for someone else? Quite)
Bendtner - Crouch (On experience alone, but I suspect many won't agree so this one is up for debate)
Eduardo - Keane (Only based on the here and now, but when Eddie hits top form again this will be a no contest the other way)
Arshavin - Lennon (Our Russian absolutely pisses all over him)
Vela - Pavlyuchenko (Wins on experience and because I'm being overly generous)
Walcott - Bentley (the match-up's biggest single no contest)
Simpson - Dos Santos (the failed Mexican who is soon to be returning to Spain)
Watt - no contestant
Sunu - no contestant

Fabregas - Modric (There's class and there's world class)
Song - Palacios (Too close to call right now, although by next season Song will be vastly superior)
Denilson - Huddleston (Too even to call despite Huddlestone being a real Spurs heavyweight, maybe even a super-heavyweight)
Rosicky - Kranjcar (A totally one-sided walkover)
Nasri - Jenas (Another massive walkover)
Ramsey - O'Hara (So good he's on loan to Pompey)
Wilshere - Danny Rose (Who? I hear you cry, well he's an ex-Leeds winger on loan to Peterborough)
Merida - Jake Livermore (Who? Midfielder on loan to Derby)
Barazite - no contestant
Lansbury - no contestant
Emmanuel Thomas - no contestant
Randall - no contestant
Eastmond - no contestant
Coquelin - no contestant

Gallas - No knees King (if King were fit it might be different - but he never is)
Vermaelen - Bassong (Not even close)
Djourou - Dawson (I have to let them win some or they'll cry)
Silvestre - Woodgate
Senderos - Dorian Dervite (Who? A failure you've never heard of, and maybe even the Totts haven't heard of, who is about to return to France)

Clichy - Assou-Ekotto (although I'll grant you Assou-Ekotto whines and dives far better)
Gibbs - Bale (Bale's superior experience means nothing)
Sagna - Corluka (Which of these players had two assists in the game?)
Eboue - Hutton (Even out of position Eboue wins this with ease)
Traore - Kyle Naughton (Who? Dunno, but he came from Sheffield Wednesday)
Gilbert - no contestant

Almunia - Gomes (On Saturday's form certainly not Gomes)
Fabianski - Cudicini
Manonnne - Jimmy Walker (Who? A 36 year-old ex-Shammer)
Szczesny - Ben Alnwick (Who? Was an England under 18 international)
