A few words with Ivan Gazidis on the North Bank bridge

A thing of beauty

Had occasion to be in N5 yesterday and so went for a photographic stroll to check out the latest in the Arsenalisation stakes. Bumped into Ivan Gazidis on his way across the North Bridge, he was on his way from the office to the stadium to pick up his car. What a thoroughly polite and friendly individual he is, especially given that I'd just bellowed out 'Ivan' and despite obviously not knowing me from Adam he turned and greeted me and indulged in some fan to C.E.O. conversation.

He didn't know how Robin was but was on his way to the Training Ground to see what the very latest news was. His opinion is that we're better covered up front than in defence right now. For what it’s worth I thanked him for the Arsenalisation aspects of the stadium to date and he said there was a lot more planned for next season... and without his actually saying so in so many words I believe we managed to agree that Edelman didn't give a sh*t about football and didn't relate to football fans. 'You have to love the game to do this job'...were I believe his actual words following my somewhat disparaging comments on what hadn't gone on with the Stadium prior to his arrival.

Anyway the very last set of players was about to be put up between entrances A and B, but they'd only got as far as the strips behind the E******s badge and the full player pics had yet to arrive on site while I was there - although I spotted a van scooting round the stadium on my way away from the ground...so they could be up today if you have time to check it out.

The massive team mural is now up near the top of the steps to the right of The Armoury, assuming you're at the bottom of the steps. The mural was rippling in the wind and exactly as seen in the programme, although there were as yet no caption naming the players on view. It's not actually quite so massive and there is currently fencing surrounding it to keep plebs like myself away and prevent it being wrecked. This is because right now the full mural job is a long way off being completed.

There was a professional photographer, I could tell by his camera that he did it for a living, on a mission to do some exterior shots with whom I came into conversation. He advised me that the Mural of all the teams merged into one was going to be framed and the whole thing would become a light box, which makes sense when you see the framework. It will l believe look seriously good when done. It was tricky to get a picture over the mesh fencing.

So the players up around the stadium so far are - starting with those first put up nearest the North Bridge:
Bastin, Adams, Brady, Henry
and moving in their various batches clockwise to the south…
Parlour, McLintock, Bould, Rice
Vieira, Lewis, Dixon, Mercer
Wright, Armstrong, Jack, Keown
Seaman, Drake, Rocastle, James
Bergkamp, Wilson, Hapgood, George
4 unknowns between entrances A & B going up next
Pires, Radford, O'Leary, Male

These, in my opinion, will not be Arsenal's top 32 players but does include quite a few individuals who are still closely involved with the club. And why shouldn't it?
