Misperception of Arsenal’s youth policy is alive and well

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas: Owls avoidance

According to the Daily Mirror, Brian Laws has blasted Arsenal after they refused to let two players join Sheffield Wednesday on loan.

The Owls’ boss wanted to tie up deals for Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Craig Eastmond, but his bid was rejected by Gunners chief Arsene Wenger. Laws said: “Arsenal haven’t grown their own young players, they have bought them from all over the world, and spent millions and millions of pounds on it. We’ve tried to get hold of them, but Arsene Wenger is going to play them in the Carling Cup. That was a disappointment.”

Is this just plain and simple sh*t stirring by the Daily Mirror or is Brian Laws just a twat of the first order? Le Boss is entitled to loan players to whomsoever he so chooses for whatever reason he chooses provided the youngsters are happy with the situation. Mr. Wenger likes our youngsters to go to teams that play football so maybe that's why he's ruled out Sheffield Wednesday.

Both the players in question are English lads who've been with Arsenal for ages. Jay Emmanuel-Thomas is a Londoner but it has to be admitted that Craig Eastmond is from the far distant realms of Wanstead.

As it happens fifteen of our current young professionals are English. We also have one born in the Cameroon and one born in Ghana but both these boys moved to London at a very young age. Those registered from Europe I believe include two French, one Dutch and one Norwegian lad. Plus we have one kid from Brazil. Hard to see how this amounts to spending millions of pounds from all over the world does it Laws?
