We love the Arsenal so much it hurts and when it hurts because we suffer from a frustrating player, manager’s decision, the price of beer or a steward’s behaviour , we yell.
We also express our delight and commend when something was really great which is what I want to do now.
I switched computer from WIndows to Macintosh recently and was not able to view content from Arsenal TV anymore. I wrote an email but got no response. So yesterday I called the Arsenal switchboard and asked for help.
Within the hour, Trevor Diamond, the head of technology at Arsenal.com called me back on his mobile. He was in a hotel in Helsinki in Finland, but got on his own Mac, compared his software versions to mine, downloaded the same software as me, found out the problem, solved the problem and guided me in a friendly, patient manner thoroughly through all the steps necessary until I could view the video clips again. He thanked me for making them aware of the software issue and send a follow-up e-mail today asking if everything was ok or if I needed further help.
All this happened within the hour of my call and as I said, the guy was not even in the office but on a trip in Finland. I was overwhelmed!
If you have a way to commend Trevor´s exceptional dedication to service to the Arsenal fans as a way to show that we also appreciate when great service is given - and to encourage the rest of the Arsenal staff to follow his example that would be great.
Ed’s note – I am a Mac user and the club’s website is still too PC-centric. I would have loved the desktop Wenger and now the Arsenal gadget for use on the Mac. Same goes for their screensavers. Fact is that the tech gurus at arsenal.com can’t be arsed with macs for the most part, despite their growing popularity amongst domestic computer users. Still, credit where it’s due in this instance. And the streaming video side of things has definitely improved over the years.
