Wenger fielded too much experience at Eastlands

Wilshere: Nasty is good

It's always a shame when we get knocked out of the Carling Cup. I imagine the onlinegooner and all the other forums will bemoan Wenger's decision to persevere with the kids. Having just watched the game I'm inclined to disagree. Their first goal came as a direct of Rosicky dwelling on the ball and not turning away from goal in the defensive third. A beginner's mistake, but hang on a minute, Rosicky is a seasoned international in his mid twenties.

The second goal was due mainly to the fact that Silvestre, who is no spring chicken, was turned inside out by Shaun Wright-Phillips. Remarkable when you consider that SWP was running in a straight line at the time! For the third goal, Alex Song, who is a first team regular, should have called to Wilshere as he was facing the right way. He didn't and Bellamy skipped between the gap. Can anyone explain to me how any of their three goals were a result of youth or inexperience?

Good things that came out of the match? Well Fabianski looks like a first team keeper in the making. Secondly when Sanchez Watt came on we instantly looked more dangerous. Wenger could do a lot worse than get him on the pitch a lot more often. Having watched firstly Eduardo and now Vela look totally lost and ineffective as centre forwards, what exactly has our manager got to lose? The boy is quick, determined and has the desire and nerve to attack the space behind the defence. Something which has been completely lacking since RVP got crocked. He's also got a good touch.

Nice to see Jack Wilshere back. His touch and fitness weren't quite there, but what I did like was the fact that he was quite prepared to get a bit nasty purely on the basis that we were losing. We need a few more bad losers like him in the side. As a team, we're far too bloody nice. Why don't the players take a leaf out of Le Boss's book, stomping around the technical area like a man possessed, and giving Hughes a bit of stick.

You play experienced players to make a difference, which as far as I could make out just wasn't the case. Too many youngsters? On that showing, I would say there weren't enough. Wenger should have the courage of his convictions, and stick to his young guns.
