It was expected on Sunday wasn't it?
Yet again Drogba ripped us apart. The goals conceded were shocking to say the least. Where was the marking on the corner and on the far post??? In the end we were lucky it was only two nil. Yet again we had lots of possession and had some good spells, but as soon as we got to the penalty area, nothing, no end product as usual. We didn't take our chances when we got them and were punished at the other end.
Do our current defenders actually know how to defend? Like the United game last week, the defenders spent more time in the Chavski box than protecting our muppet of a keeper. It’s bad enough that we don't have a proper forward, but the least we could have done was TRY to defend as a team.
In my 20-odd years watching them, this is without doubt the worst Arsenal team under Wenger and possibly in the club’s history. (Ed’s note. We provide a platform for expression of views, but er… it doesn’t mean we necessarily agree with them! We have no idea how old the writer is.) Unless we get taken over and/or get a huge cash injection than we have to expect more of the same. There's no point in sacking Wenger now or at the end of the season because the next bloke will have to follow the same rules as that the out-dated board lay out and where will that leave us?? The club keep saying that they are proud to operate within their own resources but have they come up with a plan b if people choose not to renew their season tickets and club level memberships, which will lead to scores of empty seats around the ground? I wouldn't want that and I'm sure you, my fellow gooners would not want to see that either.
I read so many articles on the onlinegooner saying we should be patient and watch this team blossom and I would like to think they will. But the league table doesn't lie.
It’s all well and good saying what if this and that but at the end of the day we haven't won anything since 2005. It is down to the manager and the players to win us the trophies and all this rubbish from people on here saying if you want to experience glory then go and watch Chavski or United, why should we? We are more than capable of doing it ourselves - with the right investment and the right players - there's no reason why we can’t do the same.
We will probably finish empty handed again, but this summer there must me a major overhaul of the playing staff. A new experienced keeper, defender and midfielder and another 20-odd goal per season forward who is Drogba-like and we MUST keep hold of Cesc. As he looked up at the rainy sky, Barca must have been on even more his mind. If we lose him then we might as well kiss any hope of silverware goodbye, but on the evidence of the last three years, can you blame him?
