Spurs fan awaiting title parade

I see that the ranting, wailing and gnashing of teeth continues apace within the Arsenal community. I just don't get it. Phrases like 'unchecked concentration of power' are just total bollocks. Either you have a Club like the Chavs where they get a new manager in every two years who has no interest whatsoever in developing future players. Or you have a Club like Arsenal where you develop the future team in house and as a by-product produce untold talent to be dispersed throughout the English game. Ok. So it's not working perfectly right now for our first eleven, clearly we can all see that. But why is it that when we win a few games we're seemingly instant certainties to win the league, loose one or two and the end of the world is neigh, our team are useless and Wenger must go? Why are we so extreme in our opinions? Why all the instant reflex ranting?

We were deluded for a while into thinking we could do better than we are actually capable of doing, mainly because fans are not objective and believe what they want to believe. That's the way of football, getting your hopes up to have them knocked down is what being a football fan is all about. For most fans it's 98% abject misery in return for the odd 2% of sheer joy. For us the percentages have a much higher loading on the sheer joy side of the equation and yet still we're not happy. Being an almost but not quite team is immensely frustrating I know. But just how many Tottenham fans do you suppose have literally died of old age waiting for their next League Championship?

Sure we're all disappointed with our recent results but has Wenger sold Rocky off to Leeds and by-passed the midfield? Have we slumped to 12th place or what? Is Helder on the wing, Kiwomya up front and Hillier watching the ball fly over his head in midfield? That and a bung is how it ended for Georgie Graham's magnificent Red Army. Not slumping to a lowly third or fourth place whilst still in the knock-out stages of the Champions League.

Or if you want to go back even further has Wenger, just as Bertie Mee did, sold Charlie George the darling of the North Bank off to Derby? Has he flogged our best captain in three decades to QPR? Are we down to 17th place despite having Rice, Nelson, Ball, O'Leary, Stapleton and Brady in the side along with the inanely grinning Mancini replacing the mighty Blockley in defence. Knocked out of both the FA Cup and League Cups in the opening rounds. Well no actually.

Failure is a relative term and a very much over-worked one by alleged Arsenal fans right now. Do we have a club bereft of any young talent coming through? Have we played our first eleven every game and got slaughtered? Are we watching a team that contains, if and when fit, no less than three world class players? Are we solvent and financially stable or about to go bust? Are we third in the strongest overall league in Europe or are we lined up for a relegation battle?

I know, I know, I know and I can hear the 'yeah buts' before I've even finished typing. I fully understand that Le Boss hasn't currently got the balance, the game plan or the personnel 100% spot on right now - but FFS get some perspective.
